I lived there for a couple of years, I was in the Navy but was stationed on a tiny base so lived in the nearby town, and loved it but that was a long time ago. I’ve been wanting to go back and see the changes. Back then they hadn’t been a democracy for very long and Andalusia where I lived was just starting to come out of hibernation. I know the Great Recession hit them very hard, are they starting to come out of it?

Yes. Spain is one of the fastest growing economies in Europe again. Andalucia is quickly becoming one of the most vibrant areas around the Med sea. Places like Malaga and Seville are tourist magnets. Good weather favors agriculture, fishing and green energy production. Foreign investments are pouring in and Spanish companies are more competitive than ever.
Spain is an example of how the €uro can help an European economy, bounce out of recession with limited pain and side effects.
